In February 2014 Region of Central Macedonia participated with great success in two International Tourism Exhibitions, Milan BIT (13-15/02/2014) and Budapest UTAZAS (27/02 – 02/03/2014)
The fairs were attended by important business representatives of the tourist world, who showed an increased interest in the touristic assets of the area. Particularly rigorous was the presence of Greek tourist operators.
The representatives of Region of Central Macedonia came in touch with tourism professionals, journalists and the public and had the chance to present the area at all its richness as a wide range destination.
In all exhibitions great interest was expressed about the fact that the destination is easily accessed by road and about the variety of activities offered such as hiking, climbing, family vacations wine tasting, city breaks, school journeys etc.
With its strong presence at those important international tourism exhibitions, Region of Central Macedonia continues to promote and raise touristic interest about its area.
Region of Central Macedonia participated in the Conference "Orchestrating Strategies for the Development and Promotion of Thematic Tourism through ICT in the Mediterranean Sea Basin,” that took place in AL-Balka, Jordan, on Tuesday 4th of February. The conference was held in the framework of “MEDROUTE” project - "Routes on cultural and thematic tourism in the Mediterranean basin”, part of the ENPI CBC MED cross-border cooperation Programme.
At the conference, amongst others, the developed strategic plans for the promotion of thematic tourism in the regions of the partners were presented, as well as specialist views for the promotion of alternative tourism.
Region of central Macedonia was represented by the Vice-Governor of Environment, Energy and Natural Resources Mr Theophanis Pappas and staff of Region of Macedonia Tourism departments.
