The festival of Amfipolis takes place in the homonymous archeological site where, with the unequivocal support of the Prehistoric and Classical Antiquities Ephorate and the Archeological Museum of Amphipolis, a variety of cultural events are organized.
Each year the festival raises considerable musical and theatrical interest reaching to an equivalent standard to the festival of Philippi, and transforming the archeological site of Amphipolis to a meeting place for tourists and the local public from the entire region of Eastern Macedonia.
Theatrical performances from state and private theatre groups, ancient theatrical performances from well known Greek protagonists, as well as concerts and musical tributes from our leadings composers are some of the venues compiling the content of the Amphipolis festival which every year emerges as one of the leading cultural events in the region of Serres.
