The annual four-day International Thessaloniki Book Fair, takes place every May with the participation of hundreds of Greek and International publishers as well as national book organizations, at the International Exhibition and Conference Centre of Helexpo. Its numerous parallel events include the National Festival of Poetry, greek and foreign literature book presentations, thematic tributes, professional meetings, round tables of authors, literature critics, translators. Each year there is a central stand for a guest of honor country. Up till now among the guest of honor countries have been France, Germay, China, Israel, Turkey, etc.
The children’s corner occupies a special place with many special events and gathers thousands of young visitors.
Thessaloniki International Book Fair is promoted by the Hellenic Foundation for Culture and co- organized by Thessaloniki International Fair – Helexpo, the Hellenic Federation of Publishers and Booksellers as well as the Municipality of Thessaloniki.
