The Antiquities Ephorate of Pella invites the general public to the opening ceremony of the temporary exhibition “Before the Great Capital” on Sunday 6th of March 2016 at 11:30 am in the Archeological Museum of Pella.
The exhibition comprises of five sections from prehistoric times to the establishment of the capital city, presenting trough time the human presence integrated to the natural environment of Pella region.
The exhibition sections, with the exception of the first where the geomorphologic development of the area is presented, follows the archaeological periods without entirely coinciding with them.
Each section highlights the particular characteristics that emerged in the settlement societies of Pella, in each time period, as reflected by their material culture.
Particular attention is given to the presentation of the longitudinal occupation of the mansion (Arhontiko), situated to the centre of the region before the great capital city.
